Ramsey’s contract talks stall
Aaron Ramsey’s current Arsenal contract runs out at the end of the 2018/19 season.
The Welshman was reportedly in negotiations for a new deal with Arsenal.
Ramsey was reportedly offered a new four-year deal but Arsenal decided to retract the contract they had offered him.
As a result, Arsenal could well be set to lose Ramsey on a free this summer.
Unai Emery has also commented upon Aaron Ramsey’s current contract situation:
“There are three elements, three aspects.
“One is the player and also the player with their family and representatives.
“The other is the club and the other is the squad.”
‘I am contracted to Arsenal and I am going to do my best now this season’
However, while Arsenal could sell Ramsey in January to at least make some money on him, it looks as though the midfielder wants to stay at the Gunners till the end of the season.
Speaking whilst on international duty with Wales, Ramsey stated:
“Will I stay for the rest of the season? Of course, yeah.
“I am contracted to Arsenal and I am going to do my best now this season to try and achieve something special.
“Everything has been going great with the club. We thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal but that’s no longer the case.
“So I just have to carry on playing my football and do my best for Arsenal this season and I’ll leave the rest with the club now.
“That’s a decision that they have made and things happen in football and you just have to get on with it and carry on playing the best I can.
“That’s all I am concentrating on, giving my best for Arsenal.”
Ramsey under Unai Emery
While Arsenal could still be set to lose Ramsey at the end of the season, he has so far, proven to be a key member of Unai Emery’s side.
Ramsey has made an appearance in all eight of Arsenal’s league games this season.
The 27-year-old would assist two as Arsenal beat Everton 2-0.
Ramsey would also come off the bench vs Fulham to score an absolute screamer and earn an assist.
