Aaron Ramsey & Arsenal
Following Arsenal’s win over Tottenham last weekend, many Gunners fans again called for the club to make a deal with Aaron Ramsey.
Rasmey, the Welsh midfielder, came off the bench to make a telling appearance against Spurs.
Ramsey bagged two assists in the 4-2 north London derby win.
In total this season Ramsey has six assists and one goal in the Premier League.
Ramsey is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he can leave the club for free.
So will Arsenal offer Ramsey a new deal after all? According to the Times on Wednesday, Arsenal are still committed to Ramsey’s exit as contract talks remain dead.
Indeed, the broadsheet consider where Ramsey may go next:
Aaron Ramsey… has Juventus and Bayern Munich competing to offer him pre-contract agreements next month.
Danny Welbeck won’t get a new Arsenal deal either
The Times also report on Danny Welbeck’s situation at Arsenal.
Welbeck could be out for the rest of the season following a terrible ankle break against Sporting CP.
The striker, who had been recalled to the England squad just before his injury, is out of contract at the end of the year.
Previously Arsenal have acted generously towards injured players in Welbeck’s situation. The likes of Santi Cazorla and Abou Diaby, for example, were given new deals while injured.
However that won’t happen for Welbeck. The Times report:
The club’s longstanding contract offer to Aaron Ramsey was withdrawn in September and they have now made it clear that there will be no new deal for Welbeck.
The Spaniard’s reasoning is that by letting Ramsey and Welbeck go he will free up resources for new signings.
Are Arsenal being harsh?
One other nugget of information dropped by the Times is that Arsenal intend to have Reiss Nelson in their first team next season.
Reiss Nelson is currently on loan at Hoffenheim. The 18-year-old has starred in Germany with six goals in the Bundesliga plus one assist.
