When does the Scottish Premiership begin?
The new Scottish Premiership season kicks off on August 3rd.
Champions Celtic begin the new season at Parkhead against St. Johnstone.
As for Rangers, they start their campaign on Sunday, August 4th, away at Kilmarnock.
Who punters are backing: 91.75% Rangers, 4.7% Celtic
91.75% of all stakes on the winner of this year’s Scottish Premiership title have been in favour of Rangers, according to Ladbrokes.
With just two weeks to go until the start of the season, the bookies have revealed exactly where the money has gone north of the border.
And, remarkably, a staggering 91.75% of all stakes favour Steven Gerrard’s men to lift the title, forcing Ladbrokes to slash odds from 5/2 to just 2/1.
Rangers finished the 2018-19 season in second place, 9 points behind rivals Celtic.
Elsewhere, just 4.7% of all stakes have been in favour of 2/5 favourites, Celtic.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Punters clearly think it’ll be all change in Scotland this year and a Rangers title win could prove costly to bookies.”
Rangers vs Progrès Niederkorn
Rangers are back in action on Thursday night in the Europa League against Progrès Niederkorn.
The Ibrox giants cruised past St. Joseph’s in the first round of qualifiers, winning 10-0 on aggregate.
Rangers previously lost to the Luxembourg minnows back in 2017.
Will Progrès cause another upset this season as well?
