Liverpool legend names his Champions League favourite

Prediction

One Liverpool legend has been talking about the Reds chances of winning the Champions League this season but doesn’t name them as his favourites.

The Anfield side are really impressing in the top European competition and are showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Though, they face their biggest test this season when they face off against Manchester City in the next round of the competition.

The two English side have played out two incredible ties this season, with honours even with a win each.

Pep Guardiola’s side came out on top back in September last year when they won 5-0 at the Etihad.

Though, Liverpool hit back in January when they completed an incredible 4-3 win over the Cityzens at Anfield.

Now, they will come head-to-head for the chance to play in the Champions League semi-final but Liverpool legend John Barnes has neither side as his favourite.

The former England star has actually chosen Catalan giants Barcelona as his favourite this season.

“There’s Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich; they’re all good teams,” explained Barnes.

“I think after this round, once we get to the semi-finals – of course, Liverpool can beat Man City and also Man City can beat Liverpool, but I always make Barcelona favourites to win the Champions League.

“The quality that they have. The experience that they have also, makes them favourites for the Champions League.”

Barcelona legend Xavi reveals his favourites for the Champions League

Barnes isn’t the only footballing legend that hasn’t got faith in Liverpool.

Ex-Barcelona Xavi has now named his favourite for the famous competition.

Safe to say, it doesn’t come in the form of Liverpool or even his ex-bosses side, Manchester City.
