Match preview

After starting the defence of their title with a defeat, will New York City FC bounce back as they head north of the boarder?

Last weekend, the Boys in Blue took on LA Galaxy in Carson but were beaten 1-0, the only goal coming in the very last minute.

After that, there was still time for NYCFC to snatch an equaliser, but Héber skewed his opportunity wide.

In fairness, it's been a busy start to the season for Ronny Deila's side who hammered Santos de Guápiles 6-0 on aggregate in the CONCACAF Champions League.

They'll now face Communicaciones from Guatemala in the quarter-finals with the first leg coming up in East Hartford on Tuesday.

Before then, will the reigning MLS Cup champions get three points on the board?

Vancouver Whitecaps meanwhile suffered a confidence-sapping defeat on opening weekend, going down 4-0 to Columbus Crew.

Obviously, Jake Nerwinski's red card at 2-0 didn't help but they were already being outplayed and outclassed at Field.

The Caps finished sixth in the Western Conference last season, their best finish since 2017, before going out in the play-offs to SKC.

Vanni Sartini's team will be hoping for something similar this year too but showed little quality on opening weekend.

Can Vancouver upset the champions at BC Place?
