Toronto vs San Jose Earthquakes betting tips: Major League Soccer preview, predictions and odds

San Jose are unbeaten in three meetings with TFC, their longest streak since a run of five fixtures between 2010 and 2013. However, the Quakes have only won one of their last four trips to BMO Field.

Both teams to score is 8/15.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is 4/5.

Jesús Jiménez has scored nine goals for Toronto this season. The Spaniard is 9/2 to break the deadlock and 6/5 to add to his tally.

Match preview

It's 12th in the east vs 13th in the west with both of these clubs desperately hoping to get something going in the second half of the campaign.

Up in Toronto, it's all change, with the catalyst for this, partially, their very underwhelming MLS form.

With the transfer window having opened on Thursday, a trio of recently acquired Italians are all now available to make their debut in red.

These are new superstar DP Lorenzo Insigne as well as Domenico Criscito and Federico Bernardeschi, although the latter isn't available just yet.

To make space for this, 2020 MVP Alejandro Pozuelo has been traded to Inter Miami for a measly $150,000 in GAM.

On the field, not much is changing for Bob Bradley's team, which is a problem because they keep on losing.

Last weekend, TFC were swatted aside 2-0 by old foes Seattle Sounders in Ontario.

As a result, the Reds have now conceded in 26 successive MLS matches and 24 consecutive league outings at BMO Field.

So, the Canadian club are currently down in 12th in the east, hoping these new signings can propel them above the play-off line.

San Jose Earthquakes similarly are struggling over in the west, also with just 18 points on the board.

Alex Covelo's side did at least beat fellow-strugglers Chicago Fire 2-1 last weekend, courtesy of Benji Kikanovic's brace at PayPal Park.

So, all five of the Goonies' victories in 2022, in all competitions, have come at home, last winning on the road on 30 October last year in Salt Lake.

Astonishingly, San Jose haven't won away to an Eastern Conference team since, coincidentally, beating Toronto in May 2019, 1,140 days ago!

So, surely TFC will claim three points at BMO Field.
