Toronto vs Atlanta United betting tips: Major League Soccer preview, predictions and odds

Atlanta United took seven points off Toronto FC last season, winning two of three meetings. The Five Stripes were winless in four visits to BMO Field prior to a 2-0 victory in Ontario last October. TFC have only kept two clean sheets in their last 53 MLS matches.

Both teams to score is 4/7.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is 10/11.

Atlanta United to win and over 2.5 goals is 21/10.

Josef Martínez has scored four goals in six regular season matches against TFC. He is 4/1 to break the deadlock and 11/10 to add to this tally.

Match preview

Between 2016 and 2019, these two clubs featured in all four MLS Cups, claiming the trophy on two occasions, once each.

However, right now, neither looks particularly well-equipped to compete for the biggest honours again.

For Toronto FC, they are hoping that this season is about to spark into life.

On Wednesday night, in a Canadian Championship semi-final, the Reds put in their best performance under Bob Bradley, by some distance too.

TFC demolished CF Montréal in this Canadian Classique clash, with Ayo Akinola, Jesús Jiménez and Alejandro Pozuelo all on target.

The record eight-times winners of the competition will now face Vancouver Whitecaps in next month's final.

Back in MLS though, things are not going to plan for TFC who were beaten again last weekend, going down 2-0 at Red Bull Arena.

So, Toronto have now lost six of their last eight league games, winning just one, meaning they are down in 12th in the Eastern Conference.

Just three places and four points better off, one will find Atlanta United.

Gonzalo Pineda's team swatted aside Inter Miami 2-0 last weekend, with Luiz Araújo and then the returning Josef Martínez on target.

The former was Atlanta's 18th goal in the first five minutes of an MLS match, the second-most of any club since they began play in 2017.

However, before that, the Five Stripes had only beaten the east's bottom two, Chicago and DC, since 13 March, so are still down in ninth.

Who will claim a much-needed victory at BMO Field?
