Miguel Berry and Derrick Etienne Jr. got the ball rolling early before late strikes from Luis Díaz and then star man Lucas Zelarayán secured the victory.

The Crew have had a contrasting last couple of years, lifting MLS Cup in 2020 but then finished ninth in the Eastern Conference last season.

Thus, this season will show if Columbus are hot or not as they looking to bounce back following a very underwhelming campaign.

Well, what better way to do that then starting the season with back-to-back wins?

San Jose Earthquakes meantime, in beautiful sunshine, were firmly not hot as they were beaten 3-1 by New York Red Bulls in their opener a week ago.

New DP Javier Eduardo López did equaliser for Quakes in the second half, before the visitors from the Big Apple scored twice to leave with the points.

Since Matías Almeyda took over in California, San Jose have finished 15th, 16th and 21st in the overall standings, not once making the play-offs.

Well, based on last week's display, 2022 could produce more of the same for San Jose.
