Match preview

Will New York Red Bulls break a long-standing MLS record against the current Eastern Conference leaders?

So far this season, RBNY have won all five MLS away matches, most recently winning 2-1 in Illinois against Chicago Fire.

This means they've equalled the league-record set by LA Galaxy back in 1998, a side who lifted the Supporters' Shield back then.

So, Gerhard Struber's side have the chance to break this record outright as they travel to Pennsylvania.

Despite their flawless form on the road, the Red Bulls are yet to win in front of their own fans this season, drawing 1-1 with Portland Timbers last weekend.

Nevertheless, they're second in the east and would leap to the top of the standings with a victory in this one.

Philadelphia meanwhile faced a cross-conference, top of the tables clash last weekend as they faced LAFC at Banc of California Stadium.

Despite leading twice, through Dániel Gazdag and Julián Carranza, the Union were held to a 2-2 draw, which represents a respectable point.

Jim Curtin's side have drawn three on the bounce but have still only lost once to date, leaving them top of the east.

Both clubs were in U.S. Open Cup action on Tuesday night and both faced fellow-MLS sides in away games.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia Union's hopes of reaching a third Open Cup Final came to an end.

They were beaten 2-1 at Exploria Stadium by Orlando City; Stuart Findlay's late goal unable to spark a comeback.
