New York Red Bulls vs DC United betting tips: Major League Soccer preview, predictions and odds

Having won a U.S. Open Cup tie at Audi Field just 18 days ago, RBNY are looking for back-to-back wins over D.C. for the first time since 2018. The Black-and-Red have won just one of their last 14 visits to New Jersey.

Both teams to score is 3/4.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is 6/5.

New York Red Bulls to win and over 2.5 goals is 6/4.

Patryk Klimala is 4/1 to break the deadlock and 6/5 to add to his RBNY tally.

Taxiarchis Fountas has scored five times in seven D.C. appearances. He is 17/2 to open the scoring and 13/5 to net yet again in MLS.

These are two of the founding fathers of Major League Soccer, meaning they've been contesting the Atlantic Cup since 1996.

To date, D.C. have claimed rivalry bragging rights 13 times but, RBNY, who've won four of the last five, will be confident of drawing level in 2022.

In the current Eastern Conference standings, given that they're six places higher, New York Red Bulls come into this game as firm favourites.

However, Gerhard Struber's side are actually winless in four MLS games, drawing three in a row before last weekend's 2-0 defeat at Inter Miami.

This has seen them slip down to fifth in the east.

Nevertheless, the Red Bulls bounced back in some style on Wednesday night in the U.S. Open Cup.

Patryk Klimala, Dylan Nealis and Tom Barlow were all on target as RNBY beat Charlotte FC 3-1 at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field.

They'll now host cross-city rivals NYCFC in a Hudson River Derby next month, with a place in the semi-finals on the line.

Before then comes another rivalry match with D.C. United visiting New Jersey.

The Black-and-Red are now in good form, currently winless in three, only claiming victory twice in ten matches since 5 March.

Last weekend, despite goals from Edison Flores and Michael Estrada, Chad Ashton's team conceded late so drew 2-2 with Toronto in Washington.

New York are yet to win at Red Bull Arena this season, but will that change against their historically biggest rivals?
