Champions New York City FC have certainly started to rediscover last season's title-winning form.

Last weekend, at their home for the day Citi Field, NYCFC came from 2-0 down to demolish Toronto FC 5-4 in Queens.

Valentín Castellanos, Thiago Andrade, Santiago Rodríguez, Keaton Parks and Gabriel Pereira all scoring as they went from two down to 5-2 up in a 36 minute spree.

A week earlier, Ronny Deila's side had demolished Real Salt Lake 6-0 in the Bronx with Castellanos scoring four of them.

So, NYCFC are the sixth MLS club to score 11+ across back-to-back games and the first to achieve this since LAFC nearly three years ago.

As a result, the Boys in Blue are now above the Eastern Conference play-off line, looking to climb even higher.

As for San Jose, they parted company with Head Coach Matías Almeyda last week; he'd been in charge for 103 matches since taking over in 2018.

This seemingly had the desired effect with interim Head Coach Alex Covelo overseeing a crazy 4-3 victory over Seattle Sounders at PayPal Park.

Cristian Espinoza with a hat-trick, including a 94th minute winner, as MLS' only remaining winless team banish that statistic.

This win means the Quakes are now off the bottom of the Western Conference, two points above Vancouver.

Despite this, NYCFC should be far too strong at Yankee Stadium.
