Match preview

Nashville SC have never failed to qualify for the MLS Cup play-offs and are on course to maintain that record.

On Saturday, the Boys in Gold hammered Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0 at BC Place; Randall Leal breaking the deadlock, before young centre-back Jack Maher bagged a brace.

This means Maher has scored with all three shots in MLS, perhaps he actually scores when he wants.

So, that’s now back-to-back wins for Gary Smith’s side, also hammering FC Dallas 4-0, despite being winless in five beforehand.

The side from Music City are all singing from the same hymn-sheet just now, with Nashville fifth in the west.

Colorado Rapids meantime topped the Western Conference just last season, but currently find themselves down in 11th.

Robin Fraser’s team were demolished 6-0 by Philadelphia Union on Saturday, the Rapids joint-biggest defeat of all time.

So, Colorado are now winless in four and are five points below the play-off line with just seven games to go.

A home win seems likely at Geodis Park.
