Will Major League Soccer's most decorated club stay on track to claim yet more silverware?

In their illustrious history, LA have lifted a record five MLS Cups, as well as a CONCACAF Champions' Cup, four Supporters' Shield and this competition twice.

However, since beating the Revs in MLS Cup eight years ago, no trophies have been added to the cabinet, a fact they're aiming to change in 2022.

So far in the U.S. Open Cup, the Galaxy have seen off San Diego Loyal, California United Strikers and then cross-city rivals LAFC.

Kévin Cabral, Javier Hernández and Dejan Joveljić all on target in last month's El Tráfico victory.

Meanwhile, in MLS, Greg Vanney's side currently sit fifth in the Western Conference, following Saturday's 1-1 draw with Portland Timbers.

Joveljić's late equaliser snatching a point, but this does mean LA have only won one of their last five outings.

In this competition though, will the Galaxy reach their first U.S. Open Cup semi-final since 2016?

Visitors Sacramento Republic meanwhile will make the 450 mile journey down the Californian coastline dreaming of an upset for the ages.

Beginning in round two, they've already beaten Timbers U23s, Central Valley Fuego, Phoenix Rising and San Jose Quakes just to get this far.

Luis Felipe Fernandes and Rodrigo López were on target in the latter as Republic defeated an MLS club for just the third time.

This makes it Sacramento's best-ever run in the cup while, in league terms, Mark Briggs' side operate in USL Championship, the second-tier.

Right now, they are fifth in the Western Conference having, coincidentally enough, beaten LA Galaxy II at the weekend.

Here, will LA's galaxy of superstars be too strong at Dignity Health Sports Park?
