This means Cincinnati have now lost 13 consecutive matches dating back to their only home victory of 2021 against Toronto on 11 September.

So far, the Orange and Blue have finished bottom of the overall standings in all three years of their history, thereby completing a wooden spoon hat-trick.

Under new Head Coach Pat Noonan, their fourth campaign looks like producing similar.

D.C. United meanwhile kicked off their season against this year's expansion club Charlotte FC.
