After an extremely disappointing week, will CF Montréal get back on track?
Last weekend, Austin FC left Quebec 1-0 winners, despite playing more than half of the match with only ten-men.
This defeat means Wilfried Nancy’s side have actually lost three of their last four MLS matches, despite being unbeaten in eight beforehand.
Then, on Wednesday night, Montréal’s Canadian Championship hopes were spectacularly ended by their biggest rivals.
In a mid-week Canadian Classique at BMO Field, Toronto FC ran out 4-0 winners, with Montréal therefore crashing out at the semi-final stage.
Back in Major League Soccer, Nancy’s team are currently fifth in the Eastern Conference, looking to hold onto that play-off spot.
Charlotte FC meanwhile would join their hosts on 23 points, should they prevail in Canada.
Last weekend, Andre Shinyashiki’s emphatic finish helped Queen City earn a 1-1 draw against Columbus Crew at Lower.com Field.
This means Christian Lattanzio is unbeaten as interim coach, following Miguel Ángel Ramírez’s dismissal, having beaten RBNY a week earlier.
Generally, Charlotte have impressed in, what is, their expansion season, but they’re still yet to win on the road since joining MLS.
