Venezuela vs Uruguay live streaming: Preview
Venezuela host Uruguay in Caracas’ Estadio Olimpico de la UCV in the CONMEBOL 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.
Manager Jose Peseiro’s side are ninth in the standings, having secured just three points from five games, with qualification to Qatar 2020 looking highly unlikely. La Vinotinto were defeated 3-1 by Bolivia in their previous match on Thursday.
Striker Salomon Rondon has not been included in the squad for the friendlies, so Fernando Aristeguieta is likely to start up front, with captain Tomas Rincon of Torino pulling the strings in midfield.
Uruguay, managed by Oscar Tabarez, are fifth in the table with seven points so far. The 2018 World Cup quarter-finalists still remain one of the favourites to qualify for the tournament in 2022.
Tabarez’s men, who drew 0-0 with Paraguay last Thursday, will start with Atletico Madrid’s Luis Suarez up front, alongside with Jonathan Rodriguez of Cruz Azul. Suarez has netted 63 goals in 117 international games for his nation, and will be looking to add to his tally.
Experienced centre-back Diego Godin is likely to partner former Atletico teammate Jose Gimenez at the heart of the defence.
Both last faced each other in October 2017, in a 0-0 draw.
Prediction: Venezuela 0 – 2 Uruguay
Uruguay, with Suarez leading the line, have more attacking flair and goals in them. The Uruguayans also have plenty of experience at the back.
