Uruguay vs Chile live streaming: Preview
Uruguay will go in search of their first victory at Copa America 2021 when they host Chile in the Brazilian city of Cuiaba on Monday.
Oscar Tabarez’s side have not won in their last four in all competitions, and were defeated 1-0 by Argentina in their opening match of the competition.
La Celeste, who sit bottom of Group B, are likely to include both Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde and Juventus star Rodrigo Bentancur in the middle of midfield, meaning Lucas Torreira has to settle for a place on the bench. Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani and Atletico Madrid’s Luis Suarez will lead line, and have a total of 114 goals for their nation between them.
Chile, managed by Martin Lasarte, need a victory to progress to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Lasarte’s men, who are 2nd in the standings with four points, drew 1-1 with Argentina in their opener, before Blackburn Rovers’ Stoke-born forward Ben Brereton netted the only goal on his debut in a 1-0 victory over Bolivia last Friday. The 22-year-old qualifies to play for the South American nation with his mother born in the country.
Brereton will start alongside Eduardo Vargas up front, and they will be supported by the trio of Arturo Vidal, Charles Aranguiz and Erick Pulgar.
Both last faced each other in October 2020, with Uruguay winning 2-1.
Prediction: Uruguay 2 – 1 Chile
Despite Chile’s fine start the tournament, Uruguay will be keen to return to winning ways and with Cavani and Suarez up front, the home side have enough firepower to cause Lasarte’s men problems.
