In the midst of the so called ‘Super League’ launch, there was some other big news coming out of Tottenham Hotspur.

On Monday morning, José Mourinho was sacked as Tottenham’s Head Coach after 17 months and 86 matches in the job.

He leaves the club at the start of a very big week in their history.

On Sunday, Spurs will face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final, looking to end their 13 year (4,809 day) wait for major silverware.

Former Tottenham player Ryan Mason as well as Chris Powell will take charge of the team, starting here.

In Mourinho’s last game, Spurs’ top four ambitions suffered a real setback as they drew 2-2 at Everton last Friday night.

This leaves them seventh, five points outside the top four, having only won one of their last five.

Can they close that gap here?

Tottenham will be at Wembley on Sunday while Southampton were at the national stadium last Sunday.

The Saints took on Leicester City in the FA Cup semi-finals last weekend but were beaten 1-0; Ịheanachọ scoring the game’s only shot on target.

That was a major disappointment for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side who, in 2021, have won four FA Cup matches but just twice in the Premier League.

Southampton’s last league games, nine days ago, was a shambolic 3-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion.

Thus, they’re 14th on 36 points with very little to play for.

Will Spurs be too strong at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Southampton

Tottenham Hotspur have won eight of their last nine Premier League home matches against Southampton.
