Two fierce London rivals, both desperate for some silverware, go head-to-head in this mouthwatering clash.

Tottenham Hotspur have won 24 major honours in their history but the last of those was way back in 2008, beating Chelsea in the League Cup Final.

Since then, they’ve actually reached the final of this competition three times but have lost on each occasions.

These defeats have come against Manchester United in 2009, Chelsea in 2015 and Manchester City just last April.

So, Antonio Conte, who’s won eight major honours in his managerial career, will be desperate to end Spurs’ trophy draught.

In this competition, when Nuno Espírito Santo was still in charge, Tottenham won two tough away games to get to this point.

They first beat Wolves on penalties at Molineux, following a 2-2 draw, before Lucas Moura’s header downed Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor.

More recently, on Sunday in fact, the Lilywhites were back in action after a two-week hiatus due to a Covid-19 outbreak.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were both on target in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool, a match they really should’ve won.

This though extends their unbeaten league run to five matches since Conte took over, leaving them seventh but with up to three games in hand.

West Ham United meanwhile will spend Christmas Day two places and two points above their fierce rivals in the table.

Although, the Hammers’ form has deteriorated in recent weeks.

Last time out, a week ago, they were beaten 2-0 at Arsenal with Vladimír Coufal’s red card for two yellows not helping their cause.

So, David Moyes’ men have only won one of their last six league games, but that was a memorable 3-2 victory over Chelsea at the start of the month.

Also, the Irons have won two of the toughest ties a club could possibly face just to get to this quarter-final.

First, they beat Man United 1-0 at Old Trafford, Manuel Lanzini scoring, before knocking out four-in-a-row holders Man City on penalties.

That tie finished 0-0 with Mark Noble, Jarrod Bowen, Craig Dawson, Aaron Cresswell and Saïd Benrahma all converting in the shootout victory.

Now, will West Ham enjoy another memorable Carabao Cup victory or will Tottenham stay on track for a trophy after this huge tie?
