After two thrilling semi-finals, it’s Spain and France who’ve made it through to the UEFA Nations League Final.

First up, on Wednesday, Spain faced the unenviable task of taking on tournament hosts and European Champions Italy.

Despite being clear underdogs, Spain took the lead in the 17th minute when Mikel Oyarzabal’s cross was turned home by Ferran Torres.

Then came a match defining three minute period just before half time.

First, Italy’s talismanic centre-back Leonardo Bonucci was sent off, receiving a second yellow, for elbowing Sergio Busquets.

Then, mere moments later, the same combination as the first goal linked-up again with Oyarzabal’s chipped cross headed home by Torres.

2-0 to la Roja and, for the majority of the second half, they were in cruise control.

Italy did hit the post before getting back into it with just seven minutes to play.

Nevertheless, Luis Enrique’s side held on for a 2-1 win, thereby ensuring they remain in Milan for a sixth major final.

24 hours later and 85 miles west, France took on Belgium at Allianz Stadium in a game that pipped the first semi-final for excitement.

At half time, the World Champions looked in serious trouble as they were 2-0 down and playing very poorly.

But, it turned out to be a classic game of two halves.

First, Karim Benzema got France back in it with a low-shot on the turn before, moments, later Antoine Griezmann was fouled and a penalty was given.

Kylian Mbappé, 101 days after missing the decisive spot-kick at Euro 2020 against Switzerland, stepped up and emphatically made it 2-2.

This game was highly-entertaining but the best minute was to be saved for last.

Lukaku thought he’d snatched a dramatic winner for Belgium, only for the goal to be ruled out after video review for a narrow offside.

Then, a matter of seconds later, the ball broke to Theo Hernandez on the edge of the box and he fired home a stoppage time winner for les Blues.

The thousands of French fans behind that goal erupted; the Belgians up the other end were distraught.

So, it is Didier Deschamps’ side who march on to Milan for this showpiece final.

Who will be celebrating UEFA Nations League glory at San Siro?
