Sevilla FC vs Athletic Bilbao live streaming: Preview
Can Sevilla keep up the pressure on the league’s top three?
Last weekend, los Nervionenses beat Granada 2-1 at home; Ivan Rakitić and then Lucas Ocampos scoring.
So, Julen Lopetegui’s side have taken 22 points from the last 24 available, only drawing with Valladolid in this time.
This means Sevilla are fourth, four points behind Barça and Real Madrid and six adrift of Atlético, all of whom have already won this weekend.
It’s tight at the top and, next weekend, the four title contenders all go head to head with Sevilla travelling to Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano on Sunday night.
Sevilla’s only La Liga title was in 1945/46 so can they stay in the hunt to amazingly change that?
Back in 1946, Athletic Club finished third and have won three league titles since then but the last of those was in 1984.
The Lions have lifted major silverware this season, winning the Supercopa de España, but lost not one but two Copa del Rey Finals last month, 1-0 to Real Sociedad and then 4-0 to Barça.
Last Wednesday, despite leading twice through Jon Morcillo and then Raúl García, Athletic were held to a 2-2 draw by Valladolid at San Mamés.
Marcelino’s side are unbeaten in seven league games but six of them have been draws.
This leaves them ninth and they’re not going to catch those in European positions.
Will Sevilla get the win they need at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán?
Prediction: Sevilla 2-0 Athletic Bilbao
Athletic Club won the reverse fixture 2-1 at San Mamés but haven’t won at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in La Liga since 2011.
