Montpellier vs Paris Saint-Germain live streaming: Preview
Will Paris Saint-Germain end this season with some silverware?
On Sunday night, PSG’s Ligue 1 title hopes suffered a real blow as they could only draw 1-1 with Stade Rennais at Roazhon Park, despite taking the lead through Neymar’s penalty.
This leaves les Parisiens second in the table, three points behind Lille, with just two games to go.
Thus, for just the second time in nine seasons, the Ligue 1 trophy will surely be residing somewhere other than Paris.
So now, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will try and salvage something by lifting this trophy.
So far in the Coupe de France, they’ve scored 12 and conceded zero in wins over Caen, Brest, Lille and then Angers.
Thus, les Rouge et Bleu are still on track to win the Coupe for the 14th time and the sixth time in seven seasons.
Back in January, Pochettino won his first trophy as a manager by claiming the Trophée des Champions.
Will he lead PSG to their 27th major honour in eight years?
Montpellier meanwhile won their one and only Ligue 1 title back in 2012, before the start of PSG’s domination.
These days, la Paillade are down in eighth, six points adrift of the potential European places despite Sunday’s 3-2 victory at Strasbourg.
In this competition, since beating Strasbourg in the round of 64, they’ve only faced sides from lower divisions, getting past Olympique Alès, Voltigeurs de Châteaubriant and Canet Roussillon.
Thus, Michel Der Zakarian’s side are, of course, big underdogs in this semi-final.
But, they do have home advantage and PSG have lost eight games in Ligue 1 so far, the most since Montpellier were champions.
Will PSG ease through at Stade de la Mosson?
Prediction: Montpellier 1-3 Paris Saint-Germain
PSG last failed to reach the Coupe de France Final in 2014 when Montpellier beat them in the round of 32.
Les Parisiens have also won six of their last seven meetings with Montpellier.
