A dress rehearsal for the biggest game of all.

On Tuesday night, Manchester City booked their place in the UEFA Champions League Final, beating Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in the second leg with Riyad Mahrez bagging both.

24 hours later, Chelsea joined them with a 2-0 win of their own, beating Real Madrid 2-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Timo Werner and Mason Mount.

So, in three weeks time, these two will do battle at the Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadı in İstanbul to be crowned champions of Europe.

It’s the first time ever the two European Cup finalists both wear blue as their predominant home colour.

Before then, this could be a big day for Manchester City.

Last weekend, quick-fire strikes from Sergio Agüero and then Ferran Torres saw them beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park.

Thus, if Pep Guardiola’s side win this one, they’ll wrap up the Premier League title to go with the Carabao Cup they won a fortnight ago.

Chelsea though also need the points.

A week ago, the Blues beat West London rivals Fulham 2-0 at home thanks to a brace from Kai Havertz.

This leaves Thomas Tuchel’s side fourth but West Ham, Tottenham and Liverpool are all not too far behind.

Chelsea would of course qualify for the Champions League as holders should they win that aforementioned final but won’t want to take that chance.

Earlier in the season, Manchester City blew Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge.

İlkay Gündoğan, Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne scoring in the first half of demolition win over Frank Lampard’s side.

More recently though, Chelsea won 1-0 when the two met at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Will there be a winner at the Etihad?

Prediction: Manchester City 1-1 Chelsea

Manchester City have lost only one of their last 24 league home matches against London sides, losing 3-2 to Crystal Palace on 22 December 2018.

Chelsea are aiming to win three successive league matches featuring clean sheets for the first time since November 2017.
