Can Leicester City get their Champions League challenge back on track?

A week ago, despite playing against ten-men for 80 minutes, the Foxes had to come from behind to draw 1-1 with Southampton.

Jonny Evans getting the equaliser at St Mary’s.

Before this, Leicester had enjoyed back to back home wins, 3-0 against West Brom and 2-0 against Crystal Palace, to reaffirm their position in third.

However, after last Friday night’s slip up, that position is looking less secure.

Chelsea are now just two points behind with West Ham five adrift and Spurs two points behind them.

After this, Leicester’s last three games of the season are against Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham, with an FA Cup Final in that time too.

Thus, it is of paramount importance that Brendan Rodgers’ side win this one.

As for Newcastle United, based on their performance last weekend, they’re unlikely to put up much resistance.

The Magpies mustered just one shot on target, a looping effort from Allan Saint-Maximin, as they were easily beaten 2-0 by Arsenal at St James’ Park.

Before this though, Steve Bruce’s side had taken eight points from a possible 12, drawing with Tottenham and Liverpool and beating Burnley and West Ham.

Thus, despite only being one place above the drop zone, the nine point cushion they have will surely see them survive.

Newcastle finish the season against champions elect Manchester City before playing two clubs destine for the drop, Sheffield United and Fulham.

Given all of this, Leicester City should win at the King Power Stadium.

Prediction: Leicester City 2-0 Newcastle United

James Maddison is looking to score in four successive appearances against Newcastle.

Kelechi Ịheanachọ has scored 17 goals this season, 12 of which have come since 3 March.

Joe Willock has scored in each of his last three appearances.

These goals have come against Tottenham (85th minute), West Ham (82nd minute) and Liverpool (90th minute) and have been worth five points.
