Huddersfield vs Manchester United match preview

Huddersfield and Manchester United go head to head in the late FA Cup game on Saturday night.

It should be a fascinating battle between the Premier League strugglers and Manchester United.

Both sides come into this one off the back of differing results.

Huddersfield returned to winning ways after a barren run by beating Bournemouth 4-1 at home last Sunday.

Manchester United were beaten 1-0 at Newcastle last Sunday. Jose Mourinho’s side now face a battle for the top four and any slim remaining hopes of catching Manchester City are surely now over.

Is the FA Cup Manchester United’s best hope of a trophy?

Whilst Huddersfield have a full week off before their next Premier League game, Manchester United have a huge week ahead.

This FA Cup tie is followed by a trip to Sevilla on Wednesday night in the Champions League.

Before a ding dong clash against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

With the Premier League title all but gone, the FA Cup looks like Manchester United’s best hope of a major trophy this season.

Whilst United would have to likely face off against some tough sides e.g. Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham, the Champions League is the pinnacle of European competition.

Sevilla are very experienced in European competition and will surely provide a very tough test for Manchester United.

Whilst Huddersfield were well beaten at Old Trafford, they will take great heart from their match at the John Smith’s Stadium in October.

For Huddersfield, the FA Cup has provided cheer during a tough Premier League campaign.

Huddersfield won 2-1 at Bolton in the third round.

And, after drawing 1-1 with Birmingham in the fourth round, they defeated Championship opposition again, 4-1 after extra-time in the replay.

Manchester United have eased through to the fifth round, scoring six goals in the process and are yet to concede in the FA Cup.

Derby County were beaten 2-0 at Old Trafford. This was followed by a 4-0 win at Yeovil Town, which was Alexis Sanchez’s first game for the club.

101 Great Goals predicts: Huddersfield 1 – Manchester United 1

Huddersfield will surely field a strong team and Manchester United may rest a few players for Sevilla.
