Everton’s hopes of returning to European competition next season may now be over.

On Sunday night, Carlo Ancelotti’s side put in their worst performance of the season, losing 1-0 at home to rock bottom Sheffield United.

This means the Toffees have won just two of their last nine league games, last winning at home on 1 March.

So, the Blues are eighth, three points behind Spurs and West Ham who occupy the final European positions.

If Everton are to sneak into the top seven, they probably need to win their last two games; this one and then at Manchester City on Sunday.

The Toffees have won just five home league games this season but did win both back in December when 2,000 fans were in.

Those were victories over Chelsea and Arsenal.

Will the return of some supporters to Goodison spur on their side to a rare home victory?

Wolverhampton Wanderers meanwhile finished seventh in the last two seasons but are not in the European conversation this time around.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side were easily beaten again at the weekend, losing 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

So, Wolves are 12th having won just three of their last 11.

Will Wolves win away at Goodison, like so many have before them this season?

Prediction: Everton 2-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Everton are looking to complete the league double over Wolves for the first time since 1975/76.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are winless in 11 midweek Premier League games, dating back to 2010.
