A huge contest in the battle for European qualification.

Everton were on the cusp of a top four place just a couple of weeks ago but their underwhelming form has seen them slide down the table.

On Monday night, the Toffees could only draw 0-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion; Alex Iwobi missing a decent chance in stoppage time.

This means Carlo Ancelotti’s side are now winless in four league games, losing to Chelsea and Burnley and also drawing with Crystal Palace.

However, for that trip to Sussex, they were without Jordan Pickford, Allan, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Abdoulaye Doucouré, Bernard, Josh King and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

It remains to be seen who, if any of those, will be able to feature here.

So, Everton are now eighth which would not be enough to secure European qualification.

Tottenham Hotspur meanwhile are the side currently in that seventh and, potentially, final European spot.

However, Spurs’ main ambition was to get into the Champions League and their hopes of doing just that suffered a real blow last weekend.

Despite taking the lead through Son Heung-min, Manchester United won 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With the three sides above them, West Ham, Chelsea and Liverpool, having already won last weekend, that was a real blow for José Mourinho’s side.

So, as mentioned, Spurs are seventh which could see them qualify for the Europa Conference League play-off round, depending on who wins the two domestic cups.

Of course, Tottenham could do that themselves in the Carabao Cup Final on 25 April but, first, their aim is to close the six point gap on the top four.

Who will win at Goodison?

Prediction: Everton 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

After winning at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the opening day, Everton are looking to complete a first Premier League double over Spurs.

They last achieved this in 1985/86.

The last four meetings between these two at Goodison Park have seen 22 goals. This includes Everton’s 5-4 FA Cup victory earlier this season.
