Match preview: Team & Player Performance

After their biggest victory of the season, can Barcelona now claim victory in Derbi barceloní?

A week ago, Barcelona came from a goal down to beat Atlético Madrid 4-2 at Camp Nou.

Jordi Alba equalised with a spectacular shinned volley before a Gavi header and a lashed finish by Ronald Araújo had them 3-1 up at the break.

Dani Alves then fired home his first goal for Barça for 2,258 days before getting sent off, but his team-mates managed to see out the win.

This victory saw Xavi's side leapfrog Atleti into the top four as they're now unbeaten in seven, having won back-to-back games for just the second time this season.

Will they now avoid slipping up in the Catalan derby?

Espanyol meanwhile were in the Segunda División last season but aren't in danger of an immediate return.

Although, their poor form continued on Monday night in a 2-1 defeat to Athletic Club Bilbao at San Mamés, despite Tonny Vilhena striking early.

So, Vicente Moreno's men are now winless in four, dating back to a 2-1 victory at Valencia on New Years' Eve.

Will Barcelona win the derby at RCDE Stadium, as is usually the case in this region?

Our 101 Match prediction: Espanyol 1-2 Barcelona

Espanyol have only won one of their last 31 meetings with Barcelona and that was a Copa del Rey first leg in 2018, then losing the tie at Camp Nou.
