Can Arsenal continue their quest for just a third League Cup triumph?

In their history, the Gunners have won 47 major honours but just two of them League Cups, lifting this trophy in 1987 and 1993.

They have though lost in six finals, doing so in 1968, 1969, 1988, 2007, 2011 and 2018.

This season, they entered at the second round stage for the first time in 26 years but hammered West Bromwich Albion 6-0.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a hat-trick at the Hawthorns while Nicolas Pépé, Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette were also on target.

Then, in the subsequent round, they eased past League One’s AFC Wimbledon 3-0.

Lacazette converting an early penalty before Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah sealed the win late on, the latter with an audacious back-flick.

In general terms, Arsenal’s form has improved including beating Aston Villa 3-1 on Friday night.

Thomas Partey headed home his first for the club before Aubameyang tucked home the rebound after a penalty and Smith Rowe finished a flowing counter-attack.

In all, Mikel Arteta’s side are unbeaten in six league games, winning four of them, climbing from the bottom of the table to tenth.

Will they continue this momentum?

Leeds United meanwhile have only ever won this trophy once, beating Arsenal in the 1968 final with the late Terry Cooper getting the only goal.

This season, the Whites have beaten Crewe Alexandra 3-0 and then Fulham in a penalty shootout to get this far.

The latter at Craven Cottage finished goalless before Rodrigo, Dan James, Kalvin Phillips, Junior Firpo, Joe Gelhardt and Stuart McKinstry were all on target from the spot.

However, Marcelo Bielsa’s side are finding Premier League points hard to come-by.

On Saturday, they needed a 94th minute penalty from Rodrigo to hold Wolverhampton Wanderers to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road.

In all, Leeds have won just one league game this season, beating Watford, so are just one place above the relegation zone.

Who will book their place in the quarter-finals in North London?

101 Great Goals prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Leeds United

Arsenal are unbeaten in nine meetings with Leeds in all competitions, dating back to 2003.

Under Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds have won four three of ten FA or League Cup ties.
