Lorient will be aiming to keep up the pressure on Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the table when they travel to the Stade de l’Aube to face off with a Troyes side eyeing up the top half of the table before the break for the World Cup in a few weeks.
It’s been Lorient’s best start to a season in recent memory and the club are now the closest rivals to PSG in the race for the Ligue 1 title in the early stages of this season. As of now, the club have lost just once all season long and sit behind the champions just because of that sole defeat with the gap at three points.
Both they and PSG have registered two draws each in the league, and with 21 goals scored and 14 let in for Lorient, they now head into this game knowing that they could well be in the European spots ahead of the World Cup if they can rack up just a few more points.
The club’s six-game winning run did come to an end recently with a 0-0 draw against strugglers Reims. In this time, Lorient managed to defeat Ajaccio, Lyon, Nantes, Auxerre, Brest and Lille. A loss to Lens came just before that, but they’ve since overtaken the third-placed side in the table by two points.
Troyes are down in 12th, however, and sit two points behind 10th-placed Lyon with just three wins on the board. They will struggle to get a win against such a relentless Lorient side.
