Troyes will be eyeing up a spot in the top half of the Ligue 1 table before the World Cup break coming up as they sit three points behind 10th-placed Nice ahead of a battle with an Auxerre side sitting just above the relegation zone.
This season has been far from an easy one for Auxerre, but with a recent victory for Christophe Pélissier’s men, they are now out of the bottom four and with a chance to progress to as high as 12th and above Troyes if they win here and other results go their way.
Auxerre did defeat Ajaccio 1-0 last time out thanks to a goal from Hamza Sakhi. However, with M’Baye Niang seeing a red card in the second half, he is now out of this game and won’t play until after the World Cup in December, leaving a huge gap in Auxerre’s attack.
As for Troyes, they’ve had the toughest task out there in the past two weeks, meeting with both Lorient and Paris Saint-Germain. The club drew 2-2 with Lorient, but they put up an almighty fight in Paris. Mama Balde scored to give them the league in the first half, and he did so again in the second before a rally from Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi saw the game finish 4-3 to the Ligue 1 champions.
This game is of huge importance for Auxerre staying out of the drop zone, and Troyes for a top half status.
