Match Preview

Two sides sitting in the relegation zone early on after three games will meet this weekend in Ligue 1 with Angers and Troyes clashing at the Stade de l’Aube in an early must-win match for both sides already.

Not just are the two right near one another in the table already in Ligue 1, only three points separated them in the division last season. Angers finished 14th and narrowly ahead of Troyes by those three points, while Troyes won just nine league games all season long after scoring just 37 goals. In fact, after spending time in the relegation zone for much of the year, they’ll be grateful for being in Ligue 1 at all.

Troyes right now are sitting bottom of the table in what has been a horrific start to the campaign. They’ve lost all three games and conceded a frightening 10 goals so far in this time and if they were fearful of relegation last season, things look even darker in 2022/23. Now, with just four goals of their own, there is not much hope for the club at all.

Angers are also winless in the league to this point, but with them racking up at least two draws, they sit 17th in the table with just three goals scored and five conceded. The club are in the losing column, however, with Brest smashing them 3-1 on home turf last weekend.

Both sides can barely be separated after three games in Ligue 1, and this game is already a vital one. Troyes, however, look doomed already and Angers will be licking their lips at the prospect of getting this away trip out the way early on.
