17th meets with 16th in Ligue 1 in what is arguably the biggest game of the season for both Nantes and Ajaccio as the two do battle at the Beaujoire Stadium with the World Cup break to come straight after.

As of now, Nantes are sitting outside of the relegation zone in 16th and are ahead of Ajaccio by just one point. This means they head into the game with fate in their own hands, as a draw should be enough to see them remain out of the bottom four. However, if Strasbourg win and overturn a two-goal goals difference deficit and Nantes draw, they will move into the relegation spots until at least the end of December.

Worse yet for the home side, they have only won two games so far this campaign with Ajaccio winning two. What keeps Nantes ahead right now is their six draws, which has been helped by the fact they’ve scored 15 times compared to the away side’s 12.

Ajaccio are, however, coming into this one in much better form than previous weeks. The club managed to beat Marseille away from home around a month ago, before losing to PSG and Auxerre and drawing with Troyes. However, by beating fellow relegation fighters Strasbourg, they have now edged closer to getting out of the relegation spots.
