Match Preview

The postponed game between Lorient and Lyon will take place this Wednesday in the midst of a game last weekend and one to come each on Sunday too with sixth meeting fourth in Ligue 1 in this one.

Lorient have been absolutely incredible this season in contrast to their dismal attempts last year that saw them survive by just four points. This time around, however, with this game in hand to play, the club could rocket themselves into fourth and ahead of Lyon with a win.

This comes off the back of three wins, one draw and one loss in Ligue 1, while the club have just returned to the win column with a victory against Ajaccio away from home. Dango Ouattara scored his first goal of the season in that win, and with victories over Clermont Foot and Rennes as well, the club sit with 10 points after five games and a record of eight conceded and eight scored.

As for Lyon, they have gone one better in the league this season and remain one of the four sides in the top four who are yet to taste defeat in Ligue 1 so far. Better yet, with 14 goals scored and only four let in, they are ready to jump into second and above Marseille and Lens if they can win this game here.

Ajaccio, Troyes and Auxerre have all been beaten by this impressive Lyon side, and with a 5-0 thrashing against Angers over the weekend too, there is a lot of hope circling around the club for the league campaign, especially with no European football as a distraction for Lyon too.
