Stockport County are up into 11th after a win over Crewe Alexandra on Boxing Day with Walsall set to play hosts to the Hatters at the Banks’s Stadium with Michael Flynn’s side now moving up into eighth after a great win over Swindon Town.
Walsall have seriously reignited their playoff hopes in recent weeks and they now head into this battle with County off the back of arguably their best win over the season. Manny Monthe was the hero for Walsall on Boxing Day, as his effort secured all three points for the club on the road against Swindon.
Flynn’s men are now sitting just two points behind fifth-placed Swindon Town, however, they are only two points ahead of Stockport in 11th. Both clubs have also won nine games this League Two season.
Stockport defeated Crewe 2-0 with two second half goals on Monday, as Paddy Madden netted once more before a Will Collar goal. They are now into the top half and sit just a handful of points away from achieving a spot in the playoffs.
