Match preview

Can RCD Mallorca save themselves from relegation?

In midweek, los Bermellones dropped into the bottom three, despite a battling goalless draw with Sevilla at Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

Before this though, Javier Aguirre's side had suffered a damaging 6-1 thrashing at home against relegation rivals Granada.

So, with two games to go, they're two points below Cádiz and four adrift of Granada, the only other side they can probably catch.

Mallorca visits Osasuna on the final day but, realistically, this is must win.

Rayo Vallecano meanwhile, despite not winning any of their first 13 matches in 2022, are safe, given that they were actually fourth on Christmas Day.

Los Franjirrojos were actually hammered 5-1 by Villarreal on Thursday night but, having amassed eight points from four games before this, are up in 12th.

Thus, this game is all about Mallorca, so will the home fans be celebrating a vital three points at Son Moix?

Mallorca team news

Javier Aguirre deployed a conservative back five on Wednesday night but, in a home game they need to win, might change to a back four here.

Either-way, Ángel is likely to partner Vedat Muriqi, who's been their main man for goals since arriving from Lazio on loan, in attack.

Salva Sevilla, who scored a fantastic goal in defeat last weekend, will be the key main in midfield.

Rayo Vallecano team news

Sergi Guardiola started and scored in Rayo's heavy defeat on Thursday, but fit again Radamel Falcao could come in here.

This would be the Colombian's first start since 12 February due to injury.
