Ferdinand on Chicharito
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has explained why Javier Hernandez didn’t do as well as he should’ve done for the Old Trafford outlet.
Rio believes it was down to a lack of confidence from Chicharito.
He says that Hernandez always felt like there was someone ahead of him in the team-sheet, during his time at United.
He stated that both Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie were ahead of the forward in the starting XI, knocking his confidence when he did get the chance on the pitch.
Diego Forlan used as an example
Rio Ferdinand then used Diego Forlan as an example to back up his point.
He said that Forlan never reached the heights he should have at Manchester United as he had Ruud Van Nistelrooy ahead of him in the starting line-up.
He stated everyone knew Forlan was a top player but said that his confidence wasn’t always there when he got the chance to play in the side.
