Wayne Rooney left out

Once again, like he was against Leicester City at the weekend, Wayne Rooney has been dropped to the bench for Manchester United.

The striker, who has been slated by pretty much every Manchester United fan of late, has been poor this season so far.

Infact, many are arguing that Rooney has been off the pace for a number of years now and are even calling for him to sold.

A lot feel that without him in the side, Manchester United are much stronger and a lot more threatening.

They could have a point too as Manchester United’s biggest win this season so far came at the weekend against Leicester, when Rooney was absent.

However, Jose Mourinho has previously stated that Rooney is ‘his man’ and ‘his captain’, and still has a lot to give to Manchester United’s team.

Mourinho explains Rooney absence

Before the game, Mourinho was asked why Rooney wasn’t starting again tonight.

He stated that he would have played Rooney and even made preparations after the Leicester game for him to start tonight, however, he isn’t 100% fit.

He also said that he only trained once yesterday, a little bit, and that he is on the bench tonight to come on and make a difference if needed.
