Sydney FC 0 – North Queensland Fury 1 (A-League, September 12, 2009) Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler scored a stunning goal to guide North Queensland Fury to their first three points of the since the club came into existence. Fowler struck in the 54th minute when he chased onto Daniel McBreen’s pass before dispatching a fine dipping effort from 25-yards that gave goalkeeper Clint Bolton no chance.

Newcastle Jets 0 – Brisbane Roar 3 (A-League, September 12, 2009) Roar’s Brazilian duo of Reinaldo and Henrique handed the visitors a 2-goal cushion at the break, Scotsman Charlie Miller making sure Brisbane left with all three points with the third midway through the second period.

Kashima Antlers 1 – Kawasaki Frontale 3 (match suspended) (J-League, September 12, 2009) Kawasaki were left stunned after referee Masayoshi Okada called off their top-of-the-table-clash at leaders Kashima Antlers.

Kyoto Sanga 2 – FC Tokyo 1 (J-League, September 12, 2009) Kyoto got off to a perfect start with Diego netting inside the opening sixty seconds. The visitors levelled matters on the hour mark through Naohiro Ishikawa, but FC Tokyo were undone five minutes from time as Seng Yong Kim incredible 60-yard solo run ended, assisted by a few lucky deflections, ended with the number 28 walking the ball into the back of the net.

JEF United Chiba 0 – Albirex Niigata 1 (J-League, September 12, 2009) A 20th minute header from Kisho Yano gave Niigata the lead and the hosts’ poor finishing meant that one goal was enough for the points.

Nagoya Grampus Eight 2 – Kashiwa Reysol 3 (J-League, September 12, 2009) Kashiwa took command of the match after Yuki Otsu and Yusuke Murakami had put the visitors 2-up by the hour mark. Maya Yoshida brought Nagoya back into the game with 20 minutes to go, with Popo (Reysol) and Keiji Tamada (Nagoya) both netting late penalties in a frantic finish.
