Shimizu edge Omiya to return to top of J-League; Yamagata, Kashima & Jubilo claim away wins

Shimizu S-Pulse 2 – Omiya Ardija 1 (J-League, April 24, 2010) Substitute Masaki Yamamoto struck a fortuitous late winner as Shimizu S-Pulse edged Omiya Ardija 2-1 to extend their unbeaten start to the season and reclaim top spot.

Kyoto Sanga 1 – Yamagata 2 (J-League, April 24, 2010) Makoto Kakuda’s 42nd minute header looked like securing the three points for Kyoto for much of the match, but late strikes from Han Dong Won and Yuzo Tashiro turned the match in Yamagata’s favour at the death.

Yokohama F. Marinos 1 – Kashima Antlers 3 (J-League, April 24, 2010) Lee Jung Soo’s opener for Kashima was cancelled out by Kazuma Watanabe’s first half equaliser for Yokohama, but the visitors went on to record their first away win of the season courtesy of second half goals from Mitsuo Ogasawara and Marquinhos.

Albirex Niigata 2 – Sanfrecce Hiroshima 2 (J-League, April 24, 2010) Albirex Niigata were cruelly denied their first league win of the season when Satoru Yamagishi scored a last-gasp equaliser to give Sanfrecce Hiroshima a 2-2 draw.

Urawa Red Diamonds 0 – Jubilo Iwata 1 (J-League, April 24, 2010) Norihiro Nishi grabbed the game’s only goal 10 minutes into the second half as Jubilo won for only the second time this season.

Gamba Osaka 2- FC Tokyo 0 (J-League, April 24, 2010) Gamba Osaka beat FC Tokyo 2-0 thanks to goals from Lucas and Takashi Usami.
