FC Dallas 2 – Columbus Crew 1 (MLS, June 20, 2009) A brilliant goal from Eric Avila and a penalty from Kenny Cooper quickly erased Columbus’ early lead taken after Eric Brunner headed home a corner.

San Jose Earthquakes 2 – LA Galaxy 1 (MLS, June 20, 2009) Pablo Campos converted a penalty and Ryan Johnson tucked home his sixth goal of the season to lead the San Jose Earthquakes past the Galaxy. Jovan Kirovski’s first goal of the season for LA proved a mere consolation.


Gamba Osaka 0 – Albirex Niigata 2 (J-League, June 20, 2009) Kisho Yano and Marcio Richardes scored to lift Albirex Niigata to victory over the Asian champions.

Kashiwa Reysol 0 – FC Tokyo 3 (J-League, June 20, 2009) Kashiwa Reysol defeated FC Tokyo 3-0 after goals from Naohiro Ishikawa, Cabore and Sota Hirayama.

Shimizu S-Pulse 4 – Yamagata 1 (J-League, June 20, 2009) Japan striker Shinji Okazaki and Norwegian forward Frode Johnsen scored as Shimizu S-Pulse thrashed Yamagata.

Chivas USA 1 – Tigres 2 (SuperLiga, June 20, 2009) Armando Pulido opened the scoring for Tigres in the 11th minute and Jesus Duenas closed out the match with a second 8 minutes from time. Chivas’ Michael Lahoud had scored his first professional goal in the 55th minute, while the hosts then lost Eduardo Lillingston  leaving the Red-and-Whites with 10-men for the final 23 minutes of the match.

Chicago Fire 1 – San Luis 0 (SuperLiga, June 20, 2009) Brian McBride scored after being teed up by Cuauhtemoc Blanco in the 69th minute to give the Chicago Fire a 1-nil win over San Luis.
