Goals from the MLS, A-League & J-League

San Jose Earthquakes 1 – KC Wizards 0 (MLS, August 22, 2009) Chris Wondolowski steered a glancing header off Ramiro Corrales’ long cross from the left side to hand San Jose the win in the third minute of injury time at the end of the match.

Brisbane Roar 1 – Wellington Phoenix 1 (A-League, August 23, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Sergio van Dijk’s clinical finish in the 10th minute saw him draw level with Reinaldo as the Roar’s all-time leading goal scorer – a fair effort considering the Dutchman only joined the club last year. But it counted for little in the end as Wellington hit an 85th minute equaliser when Chris Greenacre nodded home a curling cross from Daniel.

Perth Glory 2 – Newcastle Jets 0 (A-League, August 23, 2009) Well-taken goals from Wayne Shroj and Adriano Pellegrino gave Perth the three points.

Gamba Osaka 2 – Nagoya Grampus Eight 3 (J-League, August 23, 2009) Everything was going to plan for Gamba at the break after Yasuhito Endo cracked a sweet left-footer in the top corner and Lucas Severino tucked in number two from a counter-attack at the end of the half. 20 minutes from time Yuki Maki pulled Nagoya back in the game, Keiji Tamada then equalised from the spot and in injury time Magnum won the match from a free-kick after the Gamba keeper made a horrible attempt and coming, and missing, a cross.

Kashima Antlers 3 – FC Tokyo 1 (J-League, August 23, 2009) Danilo, Marquinhos and Yuya Osako put Kashima 3-up, Cabore netting a late consolation for the visitors.

Kawasaki Frontale 2 – Montedio Yamagata 0 (J-League, August 23, 2009) First half goals from Hiroyuki Taniguchi and Yusuke Tasaka earned Kawasaki the three points.
