W. Connection 2 – Pumas 2 (CONCACAF Champions League, September 16, 2009) W Connection, winless after two matches, scored first in the 21st minute with a fine goal from Jonathan Fana Frias. The drama began in the 87th minute when a corner caused chaos in the Connection defence before Victor Rosales rifled home the equaliser. W Connection retook the lead two minutes later when Renato Pereira rose highest to a left corner, but in the first minute of injury time Pumas again levelled Francisco Palencia grabbed a dramatic leveller.

Pachuca 2 – Houston Dynamo 0 (CONCACAF Champions League, September 16, 2009) Pachuca opened in the 25th, Edgar Benitez did very well to bring down a ball over the top and hold off defender Bobby Boswell before placing in the far corner. Paul Aguilar sealed the win with a second 15 minutes from time.
