Beckham’s LA Galaxy draw at Chivas in the playoffs; Revs beat Fire; Goals from the A-League


Chivas USA 2 – LA Galaxy 2 (MLS playoffs, November 1, 2009) Maicon Santos scored for Chivas USA in the fourth minute. Mike Magee tied the score 10 minutes later for the Galaxy, and Landon Donovan made it 2-1 only minutes before halftime. Maykel Galindo scored a goal in the 50th minute to tie the match ahead of the second leg.

New England Revolution 2 – Chicago Fire 1 (MLS playoffs, November 1, 2009) Shalrie Joseph scored in the 75th minute to give New England a 2-1 victory over Chicago. Chris Rolfe opened the scoring for Chicago in the 17th minute, and Emmanuel Osei tied it for New England.

Real Salt Lake 1 – Columbus Crew 0 (MLS playoffs, October 31, 2009) Robbie Findley tapped home a low cross from Yura Movsisyan from the left corner to give RSL the advantage heading into Thursday night’s second leg at Crew Stadium.


Sydney FC 3 – Wellington Phoenix 1 (A-League, November 1, 2009) The match was as good as over within 35 minutes as Sydney struck three times through Steve Corica and a Mark Bridge double. Sub Costa Barbarouses netted a consolation goal for the visitors 10 minutes from time although the Phoenix could have made the game more interesting had Brazilian Daniel converted from the penalty spot midway through the second half.
