VIDEO: Corluka (Spurs) & Klasnic (Bolton) on target as Croatia down Qatar in a 5-goal thriller

Croatia 3 – Qatar 2 (International Friendly, October 8, 2009) Premier League based-duo Vedran Corluka and Ivan Klasnic got the Croats off to a flyer with two goals inside the first eleven minutes. Robert Kovac was then unfortunate to see a block sail over the keeper as Qatar pulled a goal back on the stroke of halftime. And midway through the second half it was 2-2 as Sebastian Soria equalised following a pacey counter-attack. Croatia won the match in injury time thanks to Nikica Jelavic’s late strike.


Japan 6 – Hong Kong 0 (Asian Cup qualifier, October 8, 2009) Shinji Okazaki scored a hat-trick as Japan coasted to a big win over Hong Kong, Yuto Nagatomo, Yuji Nakazawa and Marcus Tulio Tanaka were also on target for the hosts.


San Jose Earthquakes 1 – FC Dallas 2 (MLS, October 7, 2009) After a scoreless first half, Dallas broke the deadlock through David Ferreira cool finish in the 49th minute. San Jose, facing a must win situation to keep their playoff hopes alive, levelled through Quincy Amarikwa’s neat chip in the 73rd minute but Jeff Cunningham’s 81st minute winner earned the visitors the points.


Real Salt Lake 1 – Chivas de Guadalajara 1 (Friendly, October 8, 2009) RSL took the lead in the 16th minute through Yura Movsisyan’s low left-footed drive, Esparza levelled in the 52nd minute with a rasping drive into the top corner.


Racing Club 1 – Boca Juniors 2 (Argentinean Apertura, October 8, 2009) Pablo Caballero had put Racing in front in the first half but a brace from Lucas Viatri in the second period won the match for Boca. Riquelme provided the second goal with a terrific backheel assist. Racing coach Caruso Lombardi quit after the match.
