VIDEO: Bayern edge Lyon 1-nil as Ribery & Toulalan see red; Villa cruise past Hull to leave the Tigers on the brink

Bayern Munich 1 – Lyon 0 (Champions League semi-final first-leg, April 21, 2010) (Longer highlights here.) Bayern had the better of the opening stages with Lyon, and the Germans should have taken the lead when Bastien Schweinsteiger had a chance to score with a header, but he missed the target. Bayern’s evening was then ruined in ten minutes from the break when Franck Ribery went to tackle Lisandro Lopez only to come down heavily on his opponents ankle, earning the Frenchman a (controversial?) red card. Ten minutes into the second half Lyon found themselves down to ten too when Jeremy Toulalan picked up a second yellow a coming together with Schweinsteiger that looked highly questionable. With the numbers level Bayern struck 20 minutes from time, Arjen Robben unleashed a swirler from 30-yards and, after Lyon defender Maxime Gonalons ducked, the ball nicked off Thomas Muller’s head before wrongfooting Lloris and into the net.
