Top 10 Goals of the Week

Happy 2011!

We’ve once again been rewarded with a host of great goals despite the overall reduced number of matches over the holiday season.

Kicking our list off this week was a thumper from west London, which was followed by a classic counter-attacking goal put together by Tottenham. From the high profile we then switch tracks to a Spanish Under-16 game and an outrageous goal from the halfway line.

Belgium football has also continued throughout the new year period and with it we saw a brilliant long-distance ripper that arrowed into the corner of the net. That was followed by a superb interchange of passes capped with a low clinical finish for goal number 5.

At spot six we find a crashing half-volley from the Championship, and England also provides us with our entries at positions six and seven – yet another thrilling half-volley and then a brilliant volley respectively.

That left just two more goals to savour; a solo special from Dubai and a wonderful volley from the Nou Camp on Sunday night.

After stressing that our list is compiled in chronological order (and not order of preference), all that’s left to say is sit back and enjoy!

1. Chris Baird (Stoke v Fulham, December 28, 2010)

2. Gareth Bale (Tottenham v Newcastle, December 28, 2010)

3. Dani Luengo (Extremadura U16 vs Asturias U16, December 28, 2010)

4. Khaleem Hyland (Zulte Waregem v Gent, December 30, 2010) (0.10 secs in)

5. Samir Nasri (Birmingham v Arsenal, January 1, 2011)

6. Andrew Taylor (Watford v Portsmouth, January 1, 2011)

7. James Morrison (West Brom v Manchester United, January 1, 2011)

8. Fernando Torres (Liverpool v Bolton, January 1, 2011)

9. Hassan Ali (Al-Ahli Dubai v AC Milan, January 2, 2011)

Narrowly missing the list were goals from Andrey Arshavin, Paddy McCourt, Katuku Tshimanga (0.30 secs in), Eduardo Salvio, Omar Hassi and Pedro Rodriguez.
