Mallorca tops Valencia to move into fourth; Espanyol sink Atleti; Bilbao pummel Almeria, Racing make Depor point

Mallorca 3 – Valencia 2 (La Liga, April 11, 2010) The home side took the lead through Gonzalo Castro and Pierre Webo doubled the scoreline with a fine diving header. Jordi Alba brought Valencia back into the match but an og from Manuel Fernandes, who was later sent off, all but won the game for the home side. Pablo Hernandez did bring some hope for Los Che.

Espanyol 3 – Atletico Madrid 0 (La Liga, April 11, 2010) Goals from Victor Ruiz and Pablo Osvaldo gave Los Periquitos the points with goals in the second half, and the game was safe before Tomas Ujfalusi’s wild lunge on Forlin ended a miserable night for Quique Sanchez Flores’ side. Ivan Alonso wrapped up the win in injury time from close range.

Athletic Bilbao 4 – Almeria 1 (La Liga, April 11, 2010) A Javi Martinez header from a corner gave Bilbao the lead over Almeria after 12 minutes, and the Basque outfit doubled their lead when Igor Gabilondo cracked home a left-footed belter into the top corner. Bilbao should have been 3-up at the break but Fernando Llorente fluffed his lines from the penalty spot. Martinez added his second and his side’s third at the beginning of the second half, before Llorente made amends sweeping home a Gaizka Toquero cross as Almeria were dismantled at will. Pablo Piatti netted a consolation for Almeria.

Deportivo La Coruna 1 – Racing Santander 1 (La Liga, April 11, 2010) Riki fired Deportivo in front inside 60 seconds, but a late Segura Toni Moral equaliser earned Racing a share of the spoils.

Osasuna 2 – Zaragoza 0 (La Liga, April 11, 2010) Carlos Aranda broke the deadlock just two minutes in and Krisztian Vadocz made sure of the points in the final minute.  The only negative on a positive afternoon for Osasuna was the sending off of Lopez Ruper five minutes from time.
