La Liga: Valencia stay fourth beating Osasuna; Nilmar star for Villarreal; Malaga & Zaragoza play out a dirty draw


Osasuna 1 – Valencia 3 (La Liga, November 22, 2009) Los Che were two up inside 20 minutes, David Villa putting them in front with his ninth league goal of the season. David Albeda doubled that lead with a sumptuous lob before Carlos Marchena rubber-stamped victory on 56 minutes. Walter Pandiani’s 64th minute dismissal looked to have made Osasuna’s task all the more difficult but they grabbed a consolation through Masoud Shojaei with 22 minutes left. The hosts finished with nine men after Miguel Flano was sent off in added time.

Villarreal 3 – Valladolid 1 (La Liga, November 22, 2009) The in-form Nilmar headed the opener after seven minutes and looped in a second header just after the restart. Giuseppe Rossi made it 3-nil before Diego Costa pulled one back for the visitors, but Ernesto Valverde’s side continued their steady climb up the table after being rooted to the bottom last month.

Mallorca 3 – Almeria 1 (La Liga, November 22, 2009) Mallorca maintained their perfect home record making it six wins from six at their Ono Stadium with a late victory over Almeria, Victor and Gonzalo Castro both scored in the final two minutes as Mallorca closed to within two points of the top four.

Espanyol 0 – Getafe 2 (La Liga, November 22, 2009) Roberto Soldado’s initial shot was pushed away by Kameni, but an alert Javier Casquero reacted first as he easily slipped the rebound into the back of the net. And Los Azulones made sure they didn’t have to suffer a nervy finish after Pedro Rios made it 2-0 a minute into injury time when he headed in a cross from Mane.

Malaga 1 – Zaragoza 1 (La Liga, November 22, 2009) Zaragoza went in front through a highly-disputable 49th minute penalty after Lafita went down theatrically and Ewerthon converted the spot-kick. The game got ugly in the second half and there were two expulsions in as many minutes with Zaragoza left back Javier Paredes awarded a second yellow on 58 minutes whiile Malaga’s Weligton got a straight red for lashing an arm at Raul Goni. Malaga found an equaliser in the 74th minute, Ivan Gonzalez rose above Javier Lopez Vallejo to meet a corner and nod home at the far post
