El Clasico lived up to expectations once again as Real Madrid and Barcelona played out a brilliant match at the Bernabeu on Sunday night.
In terms of the La Liga title race, there is now undoubtedly a close fought battle to be had between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Los Blancos lead La Liga on goal difference, with one game in hand.
How did Casemiro stay on the field?
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro opened the scoring following up from a free-kick after Real Madrid went for the jugular early on.
A well worked Barcelona move was finished superbly by Leo Messi for the equaliser.
At 1-1, Cristiano Ronaldo missed a guilt-edged chance for Real Madrid, in front of goal, from a Marco Asensio pass.
Ramos off, James equalises
Barcelona then took the lead thanks to a rocket from Ivan Rakitic, which flew into the top corner via his left foot.
Real Madrid’s chances of getting back in El Clasico looked doomed when Sergio Ramos two-footed Leo Messi for yet another sending off.
But, substitute James Rodriguez looked to have secured a 2-2 draw with a goal just minutes after coming on from a Marcelo cross.
Then came the moment that had everyone across the planet on their feet applauding Leo Messi.
Barcelona break away on 92, with Sergi Roberto leading the charge. The ball was played into Jordi Alba who managed to find Leo Messi on the edge of the box.
And, Messi side footed it, left footed, past Keylor Navas for an incredible El Clasico win that opens up the La Liga title race.
